Director Focus Task

 The Interrogation

For this film, we were meant to try and imitate the style of Steven Spielberg. So, as an homage to Spielberg's style, I started the scene with an insert shot of a significant object in the scene. I added my own spin to it though, as the shot begins over close up, and on a Dutch angle, but then becomes the master shot as it pans out. I also added more life to the scene in post-production, by using a POV shot of Sophie to give the audience a visual glimpse of the detective's thought patterns. Overall, the outcome was pretty good, I just wish Sophie and Casey didn't say their lines so fast, as it led to the final result feeling very chaotic and jumpy. I noticed this on set, and I tried making them aware of it, but I knew they couldn't help it as they were film students, not acting students. And when you take that into account, and also consider how nervous and intimidated by the camera they were, their performances were pretty good.
